English Heritage's controversial scheme to build into the motte at Clifford's Tower is again under challenge. Campaigners including the York-based Council for British Archaeology argue that the planning permission granted in the face of huge opposition by York City Council must be overturned. A freedom of information request revealed that substantial elements of the plan were withheld during the planning process. A crowd-funded case goes to the appeal court in July.
