For everyone interested in Yorkshire's past

Professor Jenny Price

I'm very sad to share this news: Jenny Price, until recently a member of YAHS's Management Board, died on Thursday in hospital in York. She was a long-standing member of the Society and of the Roman Antiquities Section, had served on Council and later on Management Board, until ill-health forced her to stand down in December. Jenny was a wise and helpful colleague whose contributions have been missed.

As an archaeologist, Jenny had wide-ranging interests, but her specialism was Roman glass. She lectured at Leeds University before moving to Durham in 1990, where she was awarded a personal chair and served for three years as head of the archaeology department. She published extensively on Roman and other early glass, and was a Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries.

The funeral is on Monday 10 June at York Cemetery, Cemetery Road, York YO10 5AJ, at 1.30 pm.
