Beverley Still, Durham University Exploring the Prehistoric Landscape of the Greta Valley
Beverley Still, a PhD student at Durham University, is Project Director of a community project funded by the Society of Antiquaries and the Royal Archaeological Institute: ‘Exploring the Prehistoric Landscape of Upper Teesdale’. This talk will focus on results from the Greta Valley, following geophysical survey across 45ha south of the River Greta and excavations in July 2021, which revealed late prehistoric finds and structures, including a burnt mound. Her research will explore how the Gilmonby Late Bronze Age metalwork hoard and two other hoards fit within the context of this rich prehistoric landscape.
