Civic Day 2011

Victorian Leeds is the theme of the YAS's Civic Day celebrations. Claremont will be open on Sat 25 June from 2-5pm to allow members of the public to see round Dr Heaton's former home. There will be tours of the house, an exhibition relating to Little Woodhouse and a talk about Dr Heaton's diaries by Dr Simon Morgan of Leeds Metropolitan University. The Thoresby Society will have a display of documents from their collections relating to Victorian Leeds on display. Visitors will also be able to pick up a Little Woodhouse quiz leaflet and investigate the Victorian features of the area.

Civic Day is a national celebration of what makes the place where we live attractive, enjoyable and distinctive. Civic societies across England will invite people to celebrate their area and discover more about where they live. For more information see www.civicvoice.org.uk
