Holderness History Unearthed
Join archaeologists Rebecca Jarosz-Blackburn and Matt Walker from AOC Archaeology Group as they reveal their findings from the archaeological excavations and discoveries unearthed during the construction of Dogger Bank Wind Farm’s onshore cable route.
The talk will take place on Monday 25 November at Woodmansey Village Hall. The presentation, followed by Q&A’s, will begin at 6pm and finish at 8pm. During breaks, the replica artefacts will be available to view and handle. The event is free to attend and open to all.
Excavations from the 30km cable corridor route uncovered Mesolithic flint tools (9000-4000 BC) to Iron Age, Romano-British and Anglo-Saxon settlement artefacts, all offering a fascinating glimpse into the ancient life and agricultural heritage of the East Riding.
Handle exact replicas of artefacts found during excavations, including arrowheads, bone combs, jewellery and pottery.
A drop-in session for budding archaeologists (age 6+) to handle and view the replica artefacts will take place before the presentation from 5.30-6pm.
