  • Posted On: 23 May 2018

The Architectural and Archaeological Society of Durham and Northumberland has been excavating this medieval castle for some years. Constructed in the early fourteenth century as a fortified manor house, it belonged to the St Quintin family and later the Conyers, and has continued to be occupied.

A summary of the 2017 and earlier dig results is here.
