The availability of LiDAR data has revolutionised investigations of the extensive earthwork landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales. However, coverage at the most detailed resolution is still limited, and significant evidence can be added by ground and geophysical survey. Below the laser-scanned ground surface, but excavation has revealed yet more intriguing and previously unrecognised evidence that challenges interpretation. Suggestions will be welcome!
